The date for Jin's military enlistment has been announced.
On December 13, Jin plans to enlist at the 5th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center located in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do. After completing five weeks of training, he will be deployed to his unit. With this, Jin is the first member of BTS to enlist in the military.
Previously, Jin announced his enlistment plan through a live broadcast.
According to his explanation, he originally intended to enlist after the album 'BE' released in November 2020. However, as ‘Dynamite’ achieved good results, the release of ‘Butter’ and ‘Permission to Dance’, nominations and performances at the Grammy Awards all resulted the delay on enlistment. With the schedule constantly pushed back, Jin said, "I didn't like the cold, so I said I would go in May or June unconditionally, and the company allowed it."
In the end, following Jin's words, the group made plans to enlist in earnest with the last anthology album 'Proof' in June of this year. At that time, BTS released a YouTube content video called 'Bangtan Dinner' for fans.
In the video, the members showed tears and said, "We are going into individual activities."
As a result, rumors of disbandment were raised, and RM said, "After the broadcast aired, we received the most contact from us since our debut. There were many stimulating keywords such as 'disbandment' or 'declaration of suspension of activities."
