Top idol group BTS (BTS, RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, V, Jungkook), who achieved No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 4 weeks in a row, set a new Oricon record with the best album 'BTS, THE BEST' released in Japan.

According to Oricon on the 22nd, 'BTS, THE BEST' took first place in the first week of release with sales of 782,000 copies on the latest chart of Oricon's 'Weekly Album Ranking' (as of June 28/counting period June 14-20). 782,000 copies are the highest sales record in the first week of this year based on the weekly album rankings.

BTS' Japanese regular album 'MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 ~ THE JOURNEY ~', released in July 2020, sold 564,000 copies in the first week and took the first place in the weekly album rankings, the first week of albums by foreign male artists. It recorded the highest sales. With this, BTS broke the record for the best sales in the first week of an Oricon overseas male artist album they had with 'BTS, THE BEST' for the first time in about a year.

In addition, according to Oricon, 782,000 copies of 'BTS, THE BEST' sold in the first week are the second-largest record in history, following Mariah Carey, based on the first week sales of foreign artists.

'BTS, THE BEST' is an album that encompasses singles and albums that BTS has released in Japan for 4 years from 2017, and is the shortest in history in the Japanese original song 'Film out' and Oricon's 'Weekly Streaming Ranking' on May 3. It contains a total of 23 songs, including 'Dynamite', which set a record of over 300 million cumulative playbacks.
