Yoo was selected after going through 1:2000 an audition. He said he does not know the local's respond as the movie is not released in Russia. But when he met Russian reporters in Cannes, what he heard first was 'Thank you'.

"They had thought 'How dare you took our hero's role', and they said they had worried a lot. But after seeing the movie, they thanked me", he added.

Joel Chapron, who was chairing the festival news conference said that "It is not easy to act in a Russian movie as a Korean actor, and Yoo perfectly expressed Victor Choi even in unfamiliar surroundings."
