Psychiatrist Under Fire For Yoo Ah In's Diagnosis

Psychiatrist Kim Hyun-cheol, who publicly insisted that the actor is suspected of having acute schizophrenia, was put in a position to be dismissed by his academic society.

The Korea Neuro Psychiatric Association (KNPA) said on March 12th that "The disciplinary procedure, related to the Kim who made a mistake by pointing to a specific person and publicly made subjective diagnosis, is being discussed. Beginning with Yoo Ah In's case, there were additional testimonies, and hearing and summons are already completed. The final decision is yet to come, but expulsion from the KNPA is also considered". 

In November last year, Kim mentioned of Yoo Ah In on his SNS that "He might have acute hypomania, and theoretically, next February is the most dangerous."

Regarding this, KNPA released a formal statement that  "Mental health specialists do not openly talk about the subjective thoughts of individuals who have not been treated directly by themselves, which is the basic ethics of psychiatrists principle."
